More than 400 people braved the dark and put their best feet forward to help raise thousands of pounds for charity.

They walked from Chorley and South Ribble Hospital to Royal Preston Hospital on Saturday night in Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s fifth annual Walk In The Dark.

The walkers included Geoff Byrom, from Chorley, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in January.

He works at the Independent Motor Trade Factors Associated Ltd and raised more than £4,000 thanks to the generosity of his colleagues, suppliers and friends.

The money is still being counted, but it is hoped the walk raised £18,000.

Laura Stephenson, area fundraising co-ordinator for Rosemere, said: “Once again, we have exceeded expectations and raised thousands of pounds for Rosemere.”
