UPDATE: Police search for firearm after '˜pistol-whip' assault in Lancashire

Police are continuing to search the Chorley area to recover a firearm after an alleged '˜pistol-whip' assault in Chorley.

A man, aged 20, and a woman, aged 17, have been arrested following an incident where a man was reportedly smacked with the handle of a firearm in a house on Northgate Drive shortly before 2pm yesterday.

A police spokesman said the man and girl, both from Chorley, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

The alleged gun has not yet been found and officers are continuing to search the area.

Searches are currently being carried out in water near to the Lock and Quay Pub in Chorley.

A force spokesman said nobody was seriously hurt.

The teenage girl has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The 20-year-old man remains in police custody.
