A £200,000 improvement scheme has begun on a block of Chorley flats.

The 24 flats – in blocks of six – on Northgate Drive and Larch Avenue are owned by Chorley Community Housing.

They are to benefit from a number of improvements including the installation of energy saving external cladding and new doors to improve the look of the blocks from the outside.

In addition, the communal areas inside each block are to be benefit from improved lighting, replacement floor covering and re-decoration.

The work is expected to take a number of weeks and should be completed by the end of March.

Lindsay Greenhalgh, neighbourhood development officer for Chorley Community Housing said: “We have discussed the works with all the residents in the blocks so that they could have input into the colour choices.

“It’s fantastic to see the work start as it will not only improve the appearance of the blocks but will also make residents homes more energy efficient.”

Richard Houghton, director of operations, said: “The works at Northgate Drive and Larch Avenue are an example of the investment CCH has committed to improve our homes and estates.

“We have completed a number of projects throughout Chorley including off road parking, new fencing and creating new garden space.

“It is brilliant to see the impact the enhancements make to the appearance of the estates but also to residents lives.”
