Yob banned from Blackpool

A DRUNKEN yob who has 82 offences on his criminal record has been banned from Blackpool town centre.

Stephen Mowles, 35, of Park Road, central Blackpool, has been put on an interim Anti Social Behaviour Order by resort magistrates.

The order will last until May 19, when an application for Mowles to be put on a full ASBO will be made.

Before making the interim order, magistrates heard the shameful dossier of evidence, which included 40 incidents which Mowles is believed to have been involved in recently.

The list of shame was compiled by PC Steven Jones.

Mowles' previous offences include theft, public disorder and crimes against people and property.

Chris Kehoe, applying for the order on behalf of Lancashire

Police's Chief Constable, told the court: "He is someone who gets drunk and who disturbs and distresses shopkeepers, shoppers and people going about their business.

"He can be obstreperous when asked to move on and he has recent offences for theft, drunkenness and public order."

In January, a builder made a citizen's arrest on Mowles after seeing him jump off the back of his van with some of his tools.

Mowles admitted theft of 200 of tools belonging to Vance Curry.

He was sentenced to 18 months' supervision and ordered to pay 80 costs by Blackpool magistrates.

Stephen Duffy, defending, said his client did not oppose an interim ASBO being made on him.

Mr Duffy added: "He will oppose a full order being made.

"It is a draconian order which is being sought."
