A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on a Lancashire motorway.
The man was walking along the southbound M6 when he was struck by a silver Ford Focus at around 4am on Saturday.
The accident happened in lane one, close to junction 29 at Bamber Bridge.
The man was in his early 30s and from Chorley but has not yet been named by police. Officers are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the accident and said it was not clear why the man was on the carriageway.
The motorway was been closed between junction 29 and 30 southbound, with diversions put in place until shortly before 10am.
