A man was found with serious head injuries in the early hours of this morning after being the victim of a serious assault.

Police were called by the Ambulance Service at around 1.50am after a man had been found with head injuries near to the Royal Mail offices at Chorley East Business Centre.

The man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Three men were seen walking away from the area just after the time of the assault and the police is now trying to track them down to speak to them. They are asking anyone with information to come forward.

DI Jane Webb from Chorley CID said: “This has happened in the early hours but hopefully someone will have seen something.

“This investigation is much in its early stages and we are on with our initial enquiries.
