Homeowners are being warned to be on their guard after a house was burgled in Euxton.
More than £4,500 of jewellery was taken in the incident in Bredon Avenue between 9.20am and 19.20pm on October 15.
A police spokesman said: “The property had been visited on numerous occasions in the week leading up to the burglary by people offering services including a new driveway and solar panels.
“We are investigating whether there may be a link between the visits and the incident.
“Jewellery worth £4,600 was taken in the burglary and it was a mix of rings and necklaces.
“We are asking for all homeowners to be vigilant.”
