Police have now launched an investigation after concerns about the safety of a resident at Lake View Nursing Home in Withnell.
Yesterday, a police spokesman said: “Following the initial complaint in January of concerns about the safety of a resident at Lake View Care Home, we have now commenced an investigation and inquiries are on-going.”
Last month, Embrace, which runs Lake View, gave families 28 days’ notice that it would close.
It had been judged “inadequate” by the Care Quality Commission, which was considering taking enforcement action.
A spokesman for Embrace said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of our residents is our absolute priority and we will work closely with the police during their investigation. We take these allegations extremely seriously.
“Whilst these inquiries are ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
Lancashire County Council said they would be supporting the investigation and Chorley and South Ribble Clinical Commissioning Group said they would co-operate fully.
