Rain failed to dampen the fires of protest outside Chorley’s hospital this morning.

Chorley MP Lindsay Hoyle was among a group of being who braved the rain to wave banners demanding that the hospital’s A&E department reopens.

Chorley and South Ribble Hospital lost its A&E department in May, when bosses at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals said they did not have enough people to safely staff both Chorley and Preston’s A&E departments.

Campaigners have vowed to protest every Saturday morning until the unit reopens.

Hospital bosses say they hope to have the unit back up and running by the end of August.
