An X-Factor style open day is being held to find a painter and decorator to oversee a Chorley pub’s £2,000 makeover.
The Potters Arms, on Brooke Street, won a makeover after entering the ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition, set up by a UK leading paint brand, Glidden Trade.
The Potters Arms owner, Denise Potter, said: “We were delighted to win the ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition and be awarded a £2,000 makeover, but rather than just go off and do it, we wanted to allow our loyal locals a chance to have an input in how best to redecorate.
“After all our customers are known for getting involved in how the pub looks, while we were away on holiday they took it upon themselves to paint the outside of the pub. It was a big surprise returning to a purple and pink spotted pub, but we couldn’t help but laugh.
“Now that the pub’s something of a local landmark, we want to spruce up the inside to match its colourful exterior.
“So we came up with the novel approach of holding an X-Factor style open day, and we are calling on painters and decorators to come in and get a real feel for the place and the locals, and together we can decide who to choose to do our makeover.
“We won’t expect any painters and decorators to sing for us, but they can give it a go if they fancy it. Who knows, they might even get more work providing live music at night.”
The open day will take place on May 17, between 3pm and 5pm.
