Guardian readers and staff raised the roof at our annual Christmas carol service.

More than 50 people, including councillors, attended the service at St Laurence’s Church, in Chorley, on Friday lunchtime.

It was led by the Reverend Martin Cox, rector of St Laurence’s Church.

There were several traditional songs, including Ding Dong Merrily On High, Away In A Manger, Oh Come All Ye Faithful and Hark The Herald Angels Sing.

Mr Cox spoke about getting ready for Christmas and Mary and Joseph preparing for the birth of Jesus.

The service also featured readings and prayers.

Afterwards, Guardian staff mingled as drinks and mince pies were served in the church’s refectory.
