Calling Coronation Street fans . . .
You certainly must not miss this year’s Chorley Christmas lights switch on next month – which is being performed by the Street’s Rob Donovan.
Marc will do the honours on the Market Street stage on Saturday 15 November. The 36 year old actor has played Rob Donovan in Coronation Street for the last two years and is currently at the centre of the soap’s biggest storyline, which is set to reach its dramatic climax in the next few weeks.
Organised by Chorley Council, the Christmas lights switch on festivities will start at 4pm on Saturday 15 November.
There will be a Christmas market along Fazakerley Street and Rock FM will get the party started on stage with a whole host of amazing performers including the winner of 2011’s Britain’s Got Talent, Jai McDowell, X Factor’s Janet Devlin and Harry Mondryk and Bailey McConnell also of Britain’s Got Talent fame.
Additionally, there will be performances from up and coming acts including the former Take Me Out contestant and singer, Gavin Ellis, singer Chris Atkinson, girl groups, Tiger Heart and Electrovamp plus boy band Exposure.
Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, Councillor Peter Wilson, said: “We’re delighted to announce another brilliant line-up for Chorley’s Christmas lights switch on and are thrilled that Marc Baylis, who is currently at the centre of Coronation Street’s biggest storyline, will be heading to Chorley to do the honours.
“We asked Rock FM to bring acts suitable for all ages and with this line-up, we’re sure everyone will be singing along and getting in the festive spirit right before Marc takes to the stage to transform Chorley town centre into a sparkly winter wonderland.
“This year, we’ve got even more Christmas lights and some new displays, which will make the town look amazing. Plus, Rock FM has promised to make it snow and we’ll have fireworks to mark the occasion.
“All in all, it will be a fantastic evening in Chorley and will mark the start of our Christmas festivities which will include a surprise Christmas attraction, a festive land train, and the chance to meet Father Christmas at Astley Hall plus entertainment every Saturday in the run up to Christmas.
“We hope you will join us on Saturday 15 November and then take part in all of the other festivities right up until Christmas.”
Chorley Council is working with Rock FM to put on another fantastic Christmas lights switch on show. The entertainment is will start around 4pm with the big switch on currently scheduled for 6.30pm.
