Interest in new homes in Chorley soared during January and February for Cheshire-based housebuilder, David Wilson Homes North West, with the company reporting that it has had the busiest start to the New Year for five years.
The company has traced the pickup in activity to record online property searches on the David Wilson Homes website during January and February, which were up 37% compared with the same period last year.
This interest has now been reflected in a surge of visits to local sites and a sharp increase in reservations of new homes.
Some local sites are now selling at twice the national average.
Rightmove, the leading property portal, has also confirmed this trend, saying that there was a 27% increase in online property searches at the start of the year.
Steve Jackson, sales director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “We pride ourselves on helping buyers secure their dream home and we have an impressive range of schemes available to help, such as Firstbuy and Part Exchange.
“Our desire to treat each customer as an individual means we dovetail our service to suit them; we are flexible and work hard to suit the customer’s needs.
“Our new homes have always proven to be very popular and it seems this popularity is continuing to rise.
“We have also noticed an increase in the number of people reserving off plan which gives us great confidence for the future.
“One of the key factors for this rise in sales could be the fact that it is now cheaper to buy than rent.
“It has recently been calculated by the mortgage lender Halifax that the typical monthly cost associated with buying an average three-bedroom house is £600, which is £100 less than it would cost to rent the same property.”
Developments currently available from David Wilson Homes North West in the Chorley area include Eccleston Park and Aspire.
Eccleston Park is a stunning site comprised of three and four-bedroom homes with prices starting at £187,995.
Aspire offers luxurious four and five bedroom homes with prices starting at £319,995.
