Steve and Jane Cottam were given a second chance at love, but their happiness proved cruelly short lived after Steve’s shock cancer diagnosis.

The pair had first married in 2001 but ended up splitting up due to pressures on their relationship.

But they were never able to forget each other and in 2011 got back together.

They thought this was their happy ending, but at the age of just 52, steel erector Steve was diagnosed with terminal cancer with weeks to live.

They had time to get married in a moving ceremony at St Catherine’s Hospice, before their love story ended in tragedy.

Jane, 51, of Primrose Street, Chorley, said: “It seems really unfair that cancer took Steve from me after we’d just found each other again.

“But having such a beautiful wedding day at St Catherine’s has really helped me.”
