Children of all ages are being encouraged to show off their gardening talent in Chorley Community Housing’s (CCH’s) very first sunflower growing competition.

In April CCH will be giving away free giant sunflower seed growing kits to children under the age of 13.

Children entering the competition will be given growing guidelines and all entrants will have five months to produce their own giant sunflowers.

The tallest sunflower grown by a child will win £20 in high street shopping vouchers.

Those wishing to enter plants into the final stage of the competition will need to return entry forms by the first week in August.

CCH Resident Involvement Officer Charlie Barlow said: “Sunflowers are one of the easiest plants to grow.”
