The singing star visited Wheelton Nursery, which his children Charlie and Oliver attend.

The youngsters there had made a banner congratulating Kevin for winning the BBC1 talent show last month.

Alison Perei, deputy manager at the nursery, said: “They were all cheering and shouting for Kevin. They were pleased to see him.”

The children at the nursery sang first, before Kevin and his children performed.

Kevin, who grew up in Leyland and now lives in Whittle-le-Woods, also admired the banner made by the youngsters.

The nursery’s staff and children, along with their parents, supported Kevin as he progressed through each round of The Voice.

Alison said: “We have been supporting Kevin since we found out he was on The Voice and were getting our parents to vote for him.

“Charlie has been coming in and saying his daddy was on the TV and he was singing as well.

“One of the other children brought a magazine in with a story about Kevin and was showing everyone.

“We thought it would be good to congratulate him.”

Kevin, 35, first had success as a member of Liberty X, a pop group formed from the runners-up on TV talent show Popstars in 2001.

They topped the UK singles charts with Just A Little in 2002.

They called it a day in 2007 and Kevin then did his own album, continued performing as a singer and worked as a wedding photographer.

He returned to the spotlight earlier this year when he auditioned for The Voice and wowed all four celebrity coaches.

He made it through to the final and was announced as the winner, picking up a £100,000 prize, releasing single All You Good Friends and securing a record deal. He has signed up with Universal Republic after becoming the sixth ever winner of the singing show.
