Chorley’s top boxer Michael Jennings has been charged with assault.
The former British and WBU Champion faces an allegation of a section 39 assault by beating.
He was bailed to appear at South Ribble Magistrates’ Court in Leyland on May 27.
The alleged offence took place on April 24, and it is believed to have been a domestic incident involving his partner Zoe Butler.
He was arrested at 8am the following morning, and bailed.
Lancashire Police confirmed the boxer, who is currently the top-ranked challenger for the British welterweight title, was charged on Thursday and granted unconditional bail.
