Woman robbed while walking home

A WOMAN was robbed as she was walking home from a night out in Chorley.

The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Saturday as the victim was walking along Poplar Street.

She left the Sir Henry Tate pub with her partner and walked down Market Street, Bolton Street, Bolton Road, Pilling Lane and onto Poplar Street before the two were separated.

The woman was then approached by a yob who knocked her to the ground before stealing her handbag and running off through Victory Park.

He is described as white, thought to be in his 20s, and around 5’7’’ tall with dark clothing.

Det Srgt John Roy from Chorley CID said: “Although not physically hurt, the victim has been left shaken following what was a frightening experience.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward and contact police.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who saw the offender running away through victory Park or in streets nearby.”
