Chorley Buccaneers American Football team have been catching the eye all season and recently finished fourth in a national competition.
However, on Saturday the club took up a different challenge in aid of Children In Need by holding a catch-a-thon.
Thirty players aged between seven and 16 took up the challenge of catching 1,500 passes in blustery conditions and managed to do it in just three hours.
Club manager, Ian Nicolson, said: "I am exceptionally proud of all of my players.
"At the Buccaneers we offer the opportunity to boys and girls to play American football but we also try to help them to be more caring people.
"The players worked hard to get sponsors for the charity and their work should not be underestimated as they ran more than 8.5 miles during the event."
The amount raised is still being calculated, but initial estimates indicate that the club has managed to raise £500 for the BBC charity.
Chorley Buccaneers are trying to get more young people involved in the sport and have arranged for a six-week taster course starting on November 15 between noon and 1.30pm.
The event will be staged at the All Seasons Leisure Centre and is open to people aged between seven and 12-years-old. The cost of the session is £2.50.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact the All Seasons Leisure Centre on 01257 515000 or contact Ian on 07787530748.
