Chorley FC chairman Ken Wright sent out a rallying call to the public to support the club at upcoming events and to start using the social club for functions.
The club are holding a golf day on May 15, where soccer legend Sir Tom Finney will be the guest of honour.

There's still room for four teams to take place in the golf day at Shaw Hill, with places costing £400 a team, including an evening dinner, entertainment and the green fees.

Mr Wright said the golf day was a vital fundraiser for the club and he was hoping that the empty spaces would be filled by local companies.

"It is important we make sure trade keeps coming through the social club during the off-season as we need money to keep circulating around the club," he said.

"We are an ambitious club and manager Tony Hesketh has set targets of the play-offs for next year and he will be looking to bring players in to take us there.

"The ground is also in need of some maintenance so I would urge any supporters who are painters or gardeners to get in touch.

"Tony wants to encourage people to come and watch exciting passing football and we owe it to the manager and the players to make sure it is a great surface for that type of play."

Companies wanting to take part in the golf day should telephone Mr Wright on 07970 653464.

Meanwhile Hesketh has moved quickly to be in talks with players to strengthen his squad for next season.

He said: "I have spoken to two goalkeepers about joining the club and bring competition for places. Towards the end of last season Peter (Collinge) had a couple of dodgy moments but by bringing in another goalkeeper it will keep players on their toes.

"I have also spoken to two other strikers who have got experience in higher divisions and there is a defender who will help us.
"The great thing is that we have had people contacting us to ask about joining the club.

"While some of the players are putting their feet up on holiday it is not the case for managers. We have to constantly ring clubs and find out who is available. You don't want to miss out on a diamond."

For further information about events at the club contact Geoff Haslem on 01257 416247.
