Chorley Cricket Club's new professional has spoken about his 10 star performance over the weekend – and insisted there is more to come.
South African fast bowler Friedel de Wet only arrived in the country on Thursday but he took six wickets against Netherfield two days later and another four against Morecambe on Monday.
The 10 wicket haul in soggy conditions helped the Windsor Park outfit to a win and a winning draw after a disappointing start to the season.
De Wet, 27, had been due to spend the summer with Middlesex Country Cricket Club but he didn't qualify as a Kolpak player because he's never played any league cricket in England.
That allowed Chorley to snap him up and he's made an immediate impression on and off the field.
He told the Guardian: "It's my first time in England and initially I didn't know where Chorley was but my friend Werner Coetsee was the professional at Morecambe last season so I spoke to him.
"Chorley is a really friendly club and the players and officials have gone out of their way to welcome me.
"That's one of the reasons why I'd like to have a good season. I just want to take as many wickets and get as many runs as I can - and I've not scored a run yet!"
