Chorley boxer Michael Jennings is preparing for the biggest fight of his life - in America!
The Chorley Lurcher is hoping for a shot at the WBO title against as of yet unnamed opponent.

Jennings said he's 'buzzing' at the prospect of a fight in Las Vegas in September or October.

The 30-year-old last fought in April at the Bolton Arena when he knocked out Georgian opponent George Uginadze in the seventh round but he knows his next opponent will be a significant step up in class.

He said: "It's going to be a massive fight. I met up with Frank Warren in London last weekend and I should know the opponent this week.

"It could be a life-changing fight and it will be the first time I'll be seen by an American audience. "I've been boxing for 17 years and we train for fights like this. This is what it's all about."

Jennings will almost certainly be the underdog but he doesn't care.

"I'm going to win," he said. "I don't care about reputations. I will fight anybody in the world.

"I'm training every day now. I do about three hours in the morning and two in the evening."

Jennings, who has forged a growing reputation for himself with 33 victories in his professional career, became a dad for the second time 11 weeks ago with the birth of Jack.

"He's already sleeping through the night," said his father. "I do boxing because I love it but this next fight could secure my family's future."
