It was a night of many frustrations for Tony Hesketh as his skipper Kieran Fletcher was given his marching orders 10 minutes from time and also not being able to keep his starting line-up from Saturday.
Motorway problems saw Chris Smalley, Jordan Connerton and Adam Farrell all arrive late at the ground and Hesketh had to juggle his options.
James Mullineux, Danny Finch, Steve Burke and Chris Brookes were all elevated to the first team as has been the case all season their finishing at times let them down.
The Magpies failed to test the home side's keeper Ritchie Mottram on enough occasions to warrant a result out of the game.
The visitors went in at the break 1-0 down after former Chorley left-back Chris Fitzsimmons cross-field pass to Phil Hadland who unleashed a cross-shot which left Peter Collinge grasping at thin air.
Roger Sharrock almost grabbed an equaliser with a free-kick which thundered aghainst the bar and was scrambled clear.
In the second period, Warrington increased their lead when Thomas Lamb poked the ball past Collinge on 65 minutes.
This sparked Hesketh into action make a double substitution introducing Jordan Connerton and Adam Farrell but they did not have much chance to make their presence felt.
Warrington keeper Mottram, who has only conceded one goal against the Magpies, made saves to deny Sharrock, West and Farrell.
Lamb grabbed his second of the game on 75 minutesand the dismissal of Fletcher effectively ended Chorley's chances of turning the game around.
