A teenager from Euxton had a double reason to celebrate last weekend after scoring for Preston North End Ladies Reserves in a 4-1 win against Bradford ... and also getting her GCSE results.
Charlotte Gregory, 16, has continued her progression up the Preston North End hierarchy since she was 12 and has high hopes for the new season.
She said: "It was only my second game back after the holidays and we won comfortably in our first match winning 12-4. But Bradford was a tough test for us as they were a better side.
"I scored from the centre of midfield and it was a good strike from outside the box. I was happy with my performance but one area I want to improve is getting back to defend.
"In the long term I want to break into the first team and I know it may not be this year but it is an exciting time to be here as they are challenging to be in the top flight in woman's football."
Charlotte is set to start studying for her A-levels at Runshaw College this year and can't wait to work on her game this season.
She said: "It is interesting as I have broken into the reserves and most of the players are older than me so I am just happy to be here. In the past I have been training with first team members so I think I can make it."
