Southlands High School confirmed they're top of the class when it comes to rugby when their Year 8 rugby league team become Lancashire Trophy champions.
They staged a tremendous fightback against rivals Holy Cross High School to win 22-10 – despite being 10-0 down after 20 minutes.
Southlands were slightly flattered by the 22-10 scoreline as the last two tries were scored in the final few minutes.
The try scorers were Bradley Fisher, Ciaran Sarath and Alex Bridge with two scores.
Southlands have been undefeated all season, defeating Balshaws in the quarter final by 60-4 and Upholland in the semi-final by 56-0.
The school continued their amazing rugby record when their Year 9 team won another trophy.
Southlands became the Under 14s Lancashire rugby champions – the fourth team from the school to play in a Lancashire Trophy final this year.
Captain Charles Walker led his team to a narrow 18-16 win over local rivals Parklands High School with Dale Robinson scoring one try and Lewis Heyes scoring two.
PE teacher Andrew Smith said the Year 9 team has really improved over the year.
He added: "They had a disappointing year last year, but have really come back to form this year and produced a number of really good performances. The key note of their success has been their teamwork and their desire to win."
