Chorley's play-off charge came unstuck on Saturday at AFC Fylde.
Steve Waywell's in-form team went into the game on the back of taking 15 points from a possible 18 in their previous six matches.
However Saturday's game was decided in a mad three-minute first half spell when the home side scored twice.
Mike Barnes broke the deadlock after 31 minutes and Matt Mahoney added a second after 34.
Waywell's team talk had the desired impact and Lee Shillito grabbed a reply after 64 minutes.
Cheered on by a sizeable support in a crowd of 323 Chorley pressed for an equaliser but couldn't find a second goal.
