FOUR weightlifters from an Adlington club are celebrating success at the Commonwealth PowerLifting Championships.
Joe Bullock and Rick Booth took top place on the podium in their respective categories for the Adlington Barbell club.
Unfortunately there was heartache for experienced campaigner Fred Smith while Pete Radcliffe also pulled out with injury.
Fred, 69, said: “It is an honour for the club to get so many people competing against 330 lifters from around the world.
“I got onto the stage and then had to pull out with a problem with my upper right arm.
“It was frustrating because I knew that if I had lifted what I am capable of at the gym then I too could have had a gold medal as well.”
