Whittle-le-Woods’ problem this year looks like the batting department.
The Kem Mill Lane outfit probably have one of the best bowling attacks in Division Two of the Palace Shield.
Captain Stephen Connor, veteran Terence Markham, Stuart Markham and Farouk Chabdou make a pretty formidable bowling line-up.
However, the likely loss of Dalton Cowley weakens batting. Connor, who is in his third season as captain, is hoping youngster James Proctor will shoulder some of the batting responsibility, and he already has a double 100 to his name. Whittle finished fourth-from-bottom of Division Two last season, and a mid-table position this time would represent progress.
Connor identified Farouk Chabdou and Chris McMahon as the ones to watch in 2011.
