Captain's call for big push
Chorley FC captain Wayne Maden is issuing a rallying call to his fellow team-mates to continue where they left off 2009 – in winning form.
The former Blackpool defender has been a rock at the heart of a somewhat shakey Chorley defence this season.
As a 26-year-old, Maden finds himself as one of the most experienced heads in Steve Waywell's side and is trying to help bring some of Chorley's talented youngsters on.
He said: "We are in a good position, still in with a chance of the play-offs and I think we should push forward to achieve that.
"Steve (Waywell) is always looking to bring in new players so it is adding to competition for places and I think we can expect big things this year.
"We should use 2010 as a new chance to improve and I know we have been conceding too many goals this season.
"I think we cannot rest on our laurels as we are in a comfortable position but the league is not decided for another five months."
Maden says there is going to be a clean slate to banish their disappointing defensive record which has seen them ship 38 goals so far this season.
He said: "We have let in too many and it is something we need to improve on.
"Our problems have not been that we are not defending as a unit but have made too many individual mistakes.
"We also have a five or 10 minutes spell in matches where we let teams into it so that is one area we want to cut out."
