Charnock Richard FC hope their latest addition to their trophy cabinet is the start of things to come this season.
Skipper Andy Roberts was presented with the West Lancashire League team of the month award before Saturday’s 2-1 win over Fulwood Amateurs.
The Mossie Close side ended March with four wins from four, after also beating Thornton Cleveleys, Vickerstown and Stoneclough.
Manager Andy Westwell said: “We had some good form before Christmas, but then we were forced to take a bit of a break with the ice and snow during the winter.
“We have only lost two games all season, but we must keep it up to put pressure on the league leaders, Blackpool Wren Rovers.”
It was the perfect celebration for Westwell, who along with his assistant Nigel Simmonds, marked their 10th anniversary in charge of the club with a win.
Now, the club are closing in on a domestic treble including the Richardson Cup and Lancashire Amateur Shield.
They are also in the hunt for the league title, trailing leaders Blackpool by 17 points but with five games in hand.
He said: “We have got a good squad together despite having a few injuries during the season.
“The players that have come in have done a good job to put us in second place.
“I will be rotating my squad because we have a backlog of games.
“And if we reach the finals of all the competitions then we could be playing on Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.”
