CHORLEY Ladies FC have set a target of breaking more records on their way to getting promotion to the Northern Combination League.
Chorley are unbeaten this season, with 11 wins so far, and are currently top of their league.
Danielle Toward, who has played for the club for the past 19 seasons, believes they are well-placed to get promoted to the top-flight, where they could take on Sheffield Wednesday, Hull or Middlesbrough.
She said: “We have already broken a record in the league for having the most wins, but no team has gone throughout the whole season unbeaten.
“We were run very close by Crewe Alexandra a few weeks ago, and it was 1-1 until the 88th minute, when Natalie Parry grabbed a late goal – just like she has done so many times over the years.
“We have not played the second and third placed teams in the league – Blackpool and Burnley.
“Unfortunately, we had a chance to see what Blackpool are like in a cup game on Sunday, but the game was called off due to the weather.”
Their success so far this season is even better, considering five players left the club.
Danielle said: “Kerry Bergin and Ruth Harrison have both come in, and they did not let us down.
“They seem to have gelled really well to fit into the team.
“Vicky Coupe started the season in central midfield, but did not get many goals, so we moved her upfront on her own.
“She scored four in the 6-2 win over Bolton Wanderers, and I think that she will continue to get the goals.
“Natalie Parry is always up there, scoring goals for the team.
“We have been conceding a lot more at the back, but Janet Dawson has been outstanding in defence.”
Chorley Ladies have just been sponsored by APT IT, but they will be looking for more businesses to support the club as if they get promoted, they need to raise money for trips across the North of England.
