Chorley 1 Leigh Genesis 5
Chorley paid the price for a horrendous defensive display on Saturday when they were thrashed 5-1 by Leigh Genesis.
Goalkeeper Zak Hibbert reportedly dislocated a finger in the warm-up and it went downhill from there.
Steve Waywell's team went into the game knowing they'd beaten the same opponents 2-0 a few weeks earlier but the visitors were a different proposition at Victory Park.
Jack Dorney opened the scoring after 13 minutes and Jordan Stepien slotted in the first of a hat-trick of strikes four minutes later.
Watched by a healthy crowd of 260 the Magpies seemed to lack the same intensity they showed againt Tony Hesketh's Lancaster City side a week earlier.
Alex Porter pulled a consolation goal back after 55 minutes but ex-Brig player Tom Ince immediately restored Leigh's two-goal cushion.
Chorley went searching for a way back into the game but that created room at the back and Stepien added two more goals after 62 minutes and a harshly-awarded penalty in injury time.
It was a very poor performance by Chorley that Waywell will surely demand a response from his underperforming players.
