Chorley 4 Hyde FC 3
If watching Chorley in the league campaign is as exciting as their pre-season games then Magpies fans can expect value for money.
Friday's seven-goal thriller against Blue Square North side Hyde FC had everything, including three penalties and a last-minute winner.
Garry Flitcroft's men went into half-term with a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Mark Ross and Jack Dorney after 25 and 38 minutes respectively.
Ross scored with a header from a corner while Dorney rounded the visiting keeper after being played in by Jordan Stepien.
The only downsides of the half were the withdrawals through injury of winger Shelton Payne, who still trying to regain his full fitness, and striker Jorden Stepien.
The pair were replaced by Tom Ince and Steve Burke respectively and Mark Houghton made it 3-0 after 47 minutes with a penalty.
Hyde fought back as the Magpies dropped a gear or two and netted their first from the spot on 53 minutes, then reducing the arrears further on 67 minutes with their second and the third penalty of that match in the 88th minute.
The goals would have disappointed Flitcroft but he would have been cheered by the sight of Tom Ince heading in at the back stick late on to record Chorley's third win on the bounce.
