Euxton Villa triumph in Goldline trophy final

Euxton Villa completed a cup double when they defeated local rivals Charnock Richard 2-0 at Bolton's Reebok stadium on Monday night.

An own goal by Charnock's Graeme Keenan and a cool finish by striker David Heald saw Villa have a commanding two goal lead after 20 minutes.

Charnock spent most of the first period in their own half as they struggled to get possession as Euxton dominated with their good passing.

Charnock striker Chris Bennett had a half chance just before the break when he latched on to a pass from Scott Priestley but Euxton keeper Ross Baxter made a save.

The game could have been turned on its head on 60 minutes when Charnock were awarded a penalty but keeper Baxter denied Bennett by saving to his right.

In the second period Charnock came into the game finding their feet and passing the ball better but on many occasions they could not break down Euxton's defence, which was led by man-of-the-match Lee Chambers.

But when midfielder John Sanderson missed a great chance with 10 minutes left, Euxton knew it was going to be their night.
