But his 5am starts, weight training six days a week and cardio twice a day has paid off.

Jaimie is now entered into the BNBF British Final which takes place at Birmingham REP Theatre in October.

“It’s definitely boosted my confidence,” said Jaimie.

“I was shocked to even place first so it means a lot to me.

“It was my dad who first took me into a gym when I was 18.

“Bodybuilding started as a hobby really.

“Competing on the side is a reward.

“It can be very hard work with my job because my day to day work is very physical.

“In the run up to a show I can’t get out at weekends, no late nights either.

“This year is pretty busy so I’ll be back to my heavy training at the gym soon and back on my diet.”

His dad John said: “I am very proud of him.

“The number of sacrifices he has made and his determination to stick to the strict diet and training regime is commendable of him.

“I am now hoping that he can get a good result in the finals.”

Jaimie, who attended Bishop Rawstorne High School and Myerscough College, has three novice strongman shows coming up at Bolton, Preston, and Chorley before the final.

There is only one thing Jaimie is looking forward to now and that is to enjoy some of his grandma’s baking before getting back to training for the final.
