Former Preston North End midfielder Paul McKenna has signed for Bamber Bridge.
The 36-year-old is set to make his Brig debut in Tuesday night’s NPL First Division North clash away to Northwich Victoria.
Eccleston-based McKenna made 476 appearances for North End after coming through the ranks at Deepdale.
He joined Nottingham Forest for £750,000 in July 2009 and two years later moved to Hull City.
In January 2013, McKenna went to Fleetwood on loan from Hull, the switch reuniting him with former PNE team-mate Graham Alexander.
McKenna has not been in the game since May 2013 although turned out for Stockport County as a trialist this summer.
The signing is a real coup for Neil Crowe’s Brig side who currently stand second in the table and are 10 games unbeaten in all competitions.
