West Lancs League
CHARNOCK Richard failed to get back to winning ways in the league when they took on mid-table Vickerstown.
Andy Westwell’s side kicked facing the wind and they got an early boost when Damian Dashti crossed to the unmarked Carl Grimshaw to put Charnock Richard ahead.
Andy Pendlebury went close minutes later when the ball went across the face of goal.
However, the visitors did not have to wait long for an equaliser as Mike Imison headed the ball over Adam Stone into the back of the net after 11 minutes.
Vickerstown were on the up now as they tried to put the hosts under pressure but Ross Bain and Alan Pendlebury managed to sniff out the danger.
With four minutes of the half remaining, Grimshaw failed with an overhead kick and the ball was scrambled away. He turned provider minutes later when he teed up Phil Jackson but his effort went wide.
After the break, Charnock searched for a winner despite creating a number of chances by Andy Roberts (twice), Simon Robinson, Johns Sanderson and Liam Hayton.
However, they could not find the back of the net in a week where their Lancashire Amatuer Shield tie against Longridge was called off due to the state of the pitch at Bamber Bridge’s QED Stadium on Wednesday night.
