A WOMEN’S football team from Chorley can look forward to playing top sides such as Sheffield Wednesday, and Middlesborough after winning the North West League title.
Chorley Ladies wrapped up the league with a 9-0 victory against Burnley on Sunday afternoon at Charnock Richard’s Mossle Close ground.
To seal the league victory Chorley needed three points and they secured them in the first game by scoring six goals in the first game.
The pick of the goals came from Natalie Parry when her right foot volley sailed in over the Burnley keeper.
Captain Danni Toward, Laura Todhunter and prolific goal scorer, Vicky Coope added to the goal tally.
After the first game Chorley celebrated, but couldn’t relax as they still had a game to play. In the second fixture, Chorley were dominant through out and Burnley could offer little resistance.
Chorley enjoyed their moment with new signing Deb Kerslake adding two and Natalie Parry finishing off the scoring.
The rise up the ranks will come at a cost for Chorley as they face expensive trips away and they are looking for local businesses to get behind them.
Chairman and sponsor Bill Toward said: “The girls are so passionate about their football and work so hard, it is wonderful to see them get their reward today.
“The Northern Combination league will prove a big challenge to the club but one we are looking forward to.”
Chorley play in the North West plate competition at Airbus UK in Broughton on Sunday, taking on a Southport Birkdale side to possibly seal the double.
