TOP-SCORER Steve Foster came off the bench to grab a 79th minute winner from the penalty spot as Chorley keep putting pressure on leaders Chester.

The striker showed nerves of steel considering he missed his last spot-kick against Stafford Rangers to fire the ball into the top right hand corner of the goal.

Garry Flitcroft’s side and the 798 strong crowd must have been wondering if it was going to be their day as chance after chance went begging.

In the first half, Tom Ince saw his shot cleared off the line and then defender Andy Russell watched his shot go wide of the goal.

After the interval, striker Chris Denham fired an effort wide of goal while Russell again ballooned the ball over the bar.

Then came the turning point when Matt Walwyn was bundled over in the box and Foster stepped up to blast the ball home.

Chorley: Saunders, Ross, Brown, Teague, Russell, Flitcroft, Vermiglio, Roscoe, Denham (Foster), Walwyn (Williams), Ince.
