St Catherine’s Hospice was the real winner on Saturday as past players returned to Coppull United to raise money for the charity.
The two teams on show put on a spectacle and a great game was played in front of over 200 spectators.
Despite being a charity match, players did not shy away from putting in some great challenges up and down the field.
Coppull B, which was managed by Dave Haughton, put together some great passing but against the run of play it was Coppull A who took the lead on the half hour mark when they were awarded a penalty. Craig Duckworth slotted past Gavin King from the spot to make it 1-0.
The second half started with Coppull B playing most of the football, with players trying to play nice five and 10-yard passing and with man of the match Seydou Bamba instrumental in most of the action.
Before long they got the breakthrough equalising through George Melling, who rifled a shot from close range beating the Macclesfield professional Cudsworth in the Coppull A goal.
And with about 15 minutes left it was Coppull B who took the lead with a rasping shot by Brooke to round off the thrilling win.
