Dan Birkby was the hat-trick hero as Euxton Villa comfortably saw off the challenge of Vickerstown in the Premier Division.
Birkby’s three goals as well as strikes from Rick Wilson and a brace from Byron Andrew saw Villa run out 6-0 winners.
The game at the Jim Fowler Memorial Playing Fields kicked off at the earlier time of 12.30 as many of the Villa players wanted to make the short journey to take in the eagerly anticipated FA Cup tie between rivals Bamber Bridge and Chorley.
It meant an early start for the Barrow outfit and after eight minutes, it would have been forgiven if they wished they had stayed in bed as Birkby drilled an effort into the bottom corner to give Villa the lead.
Prior to his strike, the former Hesketh Bank man blazed an effort over the bar and Danny Marland was guilty of missing a one-on-one chance.
The early goal set the tone and 10 minutes later, the Leyland duo of Andrew and Dan Morris linked up to see the former head home.
Euxton piled on the pressure, Birkby producing a fine save from the goalkeeper and then Wilson saw his effort blocked from the rebound.
As the interval approached, Wilson was again denied by a tremendous reaction save and then Andrew was denied from 30 yards.
Two minutes after the restart, Birkby grabbed his second, converting a Marland cross from six yards.
Danny Hutton kept Shaun Gibbs’ goal intact clearing the ball away off the line and Sam Bolton bravely blocked minutes later.
Jordan Horner and Ric Coley were introduced from the bench and immediately the former produced a fine save from the goalkeeper and then heading over.
Birkby sealed his hat-trick 20 minutes from time lashing home the ball after a quickly taken free-kick by Morris.
Coley then unselfishly squared the ball to Andrew to make it five.
Villa enjoyed the freedom and both Coley and Andrew were denied by the keeper.
The last word fell to Wilson who finished well keeping the ball low in the corner after more good work from
This Saturday, Euxton Villa make the short journey to Mossie Park to take on Charnock Richard in the last of the 3pm kick offs in the Premier Division.
n Mitch Leece followed up his hat-trick against Charnock Richard by bagging another four goals as Coppull United drew 4-4 with Garstang.
Despite being on the back foot early on, Coppull took the lead after 17 minutes, Scott Hendy produced a save from goalkeeper Dan Curwen but on the follow up was Leece who blasted the ball home.
Chris Robinson saw an effort deflected over and early in the second half Leece scored a second, pouncing on a loose ball to convincingly finish.
Coppull then had a horror 17 minutes as goals from Connor Crossley, Leon Gierke and Matt Poole saw Garstang take the lead.
With 15 minutes remaining, Leece sealed his hat-trick and then with eight minutes remaining his shot squirmed under Curwen.
But in the last minute, Poole fired past Gav King to ensure the points were shared.
