Charnock Richard ended their two-match winless streak by beating Crooklands Casuals.

Goals in the final 10 minutes from Damian Dashti and Jamie Sanderson saw the Mossie Park outfit seal all three points.

Charnock were boosted by the returns of Ian Dickinson and John Hardiker.

It was almost a disastrous start for the away side as Mike Fletcher gave the ball away but Dave Mensergh failed to take advantage firing wide of goal.

Liam Hayton and Gavin Bates hesitated and let the ball bounce but two blocks ensured Charnock stayed level.

Bates then saved well from a free-kick, while at the other end, Grimshaw was denied tremendously by Chris

Laverty.

Hayton saw his header kicked away by Laverty and Charnock upped the pressure, Grimshaw was again denied by Laverty then the Crooklands goalkeeper tipped over a Hardiker header.

Mensergh then had Crooklands’ best chance of the game, beating the offside trap and lobbing the onrushing Bates but his effort went the wrong side of the post.

Laverty then produced two fine saves to deny both Luke Gibson and Andy Roberts .

Charnock were pressuring the Crooklands back-line, with sub Dashti proving a threat down the right.

Bates was called upon to deny a powerful Chris Lowe shot then with nine minutes remaining, Dashti broke away and fired a shot in the far corner to give Charnock the lead.

With three minutes remainin,g substitutes Dave Burrows and Jack Bennett combined, the latter laid off Sanderson who neatly converted to confirm that the points were heading back to Mossie Park.

n Charnock Richard reserves thrashed Garstang 4-0, while the academy lost 3-2 against PLCC Nomads.
