Chorley boss Garry Flitcroft says his side will be going to Ashton United full of confidence after Saturday’s victory over Nantwich Town.

The Magpies brushed aside the Dabbers, defeating them 5-1, with new signing Max Cartwright the star of the show grabbing a goal and an assist.

But Flitcroft won’t be taking Ashton lightly and expects a tough game on Wednesday night.

He said: “It’s always a tough game at Ashton, they are still up there challenging for the play-offs. I speak to their manager quite a lot and he’s got his side playing well.

“It will be another tough game but we are going full of confidence.”

Chorley were able to welcome back Josh Hine to the squad after the pacy forward missed the previous two months with injury.

Hine grabbed a goal on his return and Flitcroft was delighted his side returned to form and scored plenty of goals.

He added: “Saturday was a real confidence booster for us and it was good to score goals again.

“It was great to have Josh back in the side and I’m pleased he bagged a goal, we’ve missed him recently and it will take a few games for him to get back to fitness.

“He’ll be like a new signing for us in the remaining games.”

Jamie Vermiglio is expected to retain his place on Wednesday.

The club stalwart missed out against AFC Fylde due to fitness problems but Flitcroft expects Vermiglio to be fully fit come Wednesday.

He said: “I don’t think Wednesday will be too quick for Jamie. I had to leave him out on Monday but I’m sure he will be fine.

“He’s playing that role superbly for us at the moment.”

Flitcroft feels the game in hand will prove vital in the title run in but he wants his side to concentrate on winning as many games out of the remaining nine fixtures.

He said: “Everybody is waiting for the game in hand but none of it will be easy for us. At the end of the day, we need to win as many games as we can, we’ve got good home games coming up and they are a target for us.”
