A last-gasp Luke Ogley strike aided by a strong gust of wind denied Charnock Richard all three points in the West Lancashire League Premier Division.

Andy Roberts gave Charnock the lead with just six minutes remaining but a freak Ogley strike seal a point for Slyne-with Hest.

The Mossie Park outfit took the game to their opponents and Dave Fisher had an early chance but Tom Price was on hand to make a comfortable save.

Fisher then had a second chance minutes later but the former Lostock St Gerard’s midfielder fired well over.

Roberts had the ball in the back of the net as he latched on to a Danny Grimshaw pass but his effort was chalked off for offside.

Fisher, Danial Hogg and Danny Holan all had chances towards the end but both sides went in level at the break.

The weather proved the dominating factor in the second half with both sides struggling to reap the rewards of the gale-force winds.

A free kick on 77 minutes saw the ball come out to Mike Fletcher and his shot found Roberts, but for the second time in the game, his strike was disallowed for offside.

Ross Bain was then sent off for foul and abusive language after the assistant referee brought the words to the attention of his colleague in the middle.

But despite having the man advantage, it was Slyne who fell behind as Roberts got on the end of a Craig Banks pass to fire Charnock into the lead.

But then in the final minute, the weather that proved to be such a nuisance aided Slyne in their equaliser.

Ogley nipped past Liam Hayton and hit a shot that was harmlessly dropping over the bar.

But a strong gust of wind meant the ball dropped onto the back post and trickled over the line.

n Euxton Villa continued their poor run of form with a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Burnley United.

Villa looked in a positive mood from the outset and former Bamber Bridge defender Ryan Thompson ran on to a cleverly waited ball from Darren Davies but the big Burnley goalkeeper saved excellently with his feet.

Euxton were on the attack again and

after smart work from Dan Morris, he released Danny Marland down the right hand side.

Marland crossed and on hand was David Heald who volleyed home to give Euxton the lead.

And five minutes later, Heald sent Marland away in a similar position, the striker’s crossed left the goalkeeper striker stranded and Morris was on hand to double the Euxton lead.

But despite dominating, the Villa defence twice had a lapse in concentration and seemingly down and out Burnley’s Oliver Wood fired a quick-fire double to draw the East Lancashire outfit level.

Thompson had a goal ruled out for offside early in the second half, but moments later Thompson was the provider as Heald smashed the ball home to make it 3-2.

James Blackburn then equalised for Burnley after his heavy touched from an over-hit pass trickled past a helpless Matty Wilson.

Further woe was to follow afor Euxton as yet more poor defending allowed Blackburn to give Burnley the lead.

Jordan Horner had a late chance for Villa, but the striker failed to find the back of the net and Burnley held on to seal the win.

n Coppull United slumped to a second defeat in successive games.

They lost 2-0 at Crooklands Casuals.
