Chorley were left to rue three defensive errors as they slumped to a disappointing defeat away at Bradford Park Avenue.
The Magpies fell behind in the 13th minute as Chris Lever volleyed in unmarked from inside the area, striker Chib Chilaka doubled Park Avenue’s lead in the 46th minute before Dale Whitham pulled a goal back in the 55th minute.
Jack Dorney drew the sides level with seven minutes remaining but two minute later Chilaka scored the winner pouncing on a Whitham error.
It was a poor start at the Horsfall Stadium, as both sides opted to play with a direct style of play due to the boggy surface.
Chorley goalkeeper Sam Ashton comfortably saved efforts from Craig King and Richard Marshall but he was helpless for Park Avenue’s opening goal.
Fullback Alex Pursehouse whipped in a corner, Simon Ainge headed the ball down and latching onto the loose ball was an unmarked Lever and he sweetly struck a left footed shot past the Chorley ‘keeper.
Despite taking the lead, the Park Avenue back line dropped deep inviting pressure from the visitors.
Jack Dorney and Adam Mather both saw well struck crosses cleared while the latter had an inswinging corner tipped off the line by John Danby.
Danby was called into action shortly after the half hour diving low to his left saving a tame Adam Roscoe free-kick.
On the stroke of half-time, Roscoe gave the ball away in midfield, King broke down the left bypassing Jake Cottrell, he drilled a cross into the six-yard box, Mather initially cleared but the ball landed at the feet of Chilaka and from six yards he slotted past Ashton.
The first real chance of the second half saw the Magpies reduce the deficit, Mather curled in a corner and on hand was Whitham who headed in unmarked.
Moments later, a vicious free-kick from Joe Colbeck stung the palms of Ashton, then at the other end, a scrambling Danby diverted a Dean shot wide.
Chorley were much improved in the second-half and the home side were constantly playing with their backs to goal.
As the game entered its final 10 minutes, Chorley’s pressure paid off as they drew level.
Dean crossed from the left , Danby opted to let the ball run across the six-yard box and unmarked at the back post was Dorney who had the easiest of finishes from one yard.
After drawing themselves level, almost instantly Park Avenue re-took the lead, capitalising on yet another Chorley error.
Whitham lost possession on the edge of the box, Chilaka capitalised racing away into the box and confidently slotting past Ashton.
Late on, Chorley could have drawn level but substitute Chris Howarth headed Roscoe’s header off the line.
