Charnock Richard 3
Blackpool W Rovers 1
Charnock Richard moved four points clear of Longridge and Eagley at the top of the league after this impressive display against an organised Blackpool outfit.
The game opened in lively fashion with three goals scored within the opening 15 minutes – two of them recorded by the home side.
Carl Grimshaw opened the scoring for the hosts from an Alex Porter free-kick and Charnock followed it up with a second through skipper Andy Roberts who prodded the ball home.
Blackpool pulled on goal back through Nick Corless on 14 minutes.
Despite the attempts of both sides to add to the scoreline neither could find the back of the net in the first half.
Andy Westwell’s side restored their two-goal cushion just before the hour.
John Sanderson’s persistence was rewarded when his deft glancing header went beyond Kennerley’s reach following a fine Sam Nightingale cross from the left
A lesser side than Wrens may have capitulated, but to their credit, Rovers showed great resolve and fought hard to get back into the game but Charnock stayed strong to win.
