Tesco, in Buckshaw Village, responded to an appeal for help from Euxton Girls when they hosted a visit from USA side Shoreline FC from Connecticut.

Euxton Under-13s were hosting their American counterparts at Greenside and Simon Roberts, manager of the Tesco store, in Buckshaw Village, stepped in to supply refreshments during and after the game.

Tesco is the official sponsor of Euxton Girls Football Club but the supermarket’s generosity couldn’t inspire the side to a win against a strong American outfit who won 5-0.

Euxton Girls have two teams that compete in the Under-13s age group and both sides played a half against the visitors.

The game was played in a great spirit with a very friendly atmosphere. Afterwards Euxton Girls hosted a celebratory buffet at Euxton Community Centre where the girls got to mingle and chat.

n In other matches played at the weekend, Euxton Under-14s beat their Fleetwood counterparts 6-1 with Leah Anderson grabbing four goals, including a contender for goal of the season.

Antonia Dearden opened the scoring for Euxton against the run of play before Anderson’s sensational strike after running from the halfway line.

Laura Platt added a third before Anderson completed the scoring with her second, third and fourth goals.

Fleetwood grabbed a consolation which was harsh on Euxton’s goalkeeper Katherine Ormerod, who was the player of the match after making several good saves.

Euxton Under-15s lost 5-3 to Leigh Genesis in a thriller.

Victoria Goodhill, with her first goal for Euxton, Charis Moon and Chloe Seaman all got on the scoresheet but Euxton tired towards the end of the game and were eventually beaten.

Ella Sands scored a hat-trick as Euxton Under-12s beat Wigan 7-0 to bring her tally to the season to 30.

Lydia Page (two) Eleana Stafford and Emma Fulton joined Sands on the scoresheet.

There was another hat-trick in the Under-16s 5-0 win at Bispham with sharp-shooting Jenny Wooten scoring three times.

Molly Saint and Niamh Grimshaw also scored.

The Under-11s lost 6-2 against Academy Juniors.

The Under-13s North went down 10-3 to a strong Haslingden team – Jenna Holding, Georgia Taylor and Dani Hajduckiewicz the scorers for Euxton.
