Chorley 1sts 20 - 20 Old Bedians
In hot conditions Chorley Rugby Club gave up a 20-5 lead to end up drawing Saturday’s game with Old Bedians 20-20.
The home team could have snatched a win in their last home game of the season but Ben Renton saw his injury-time kick go an inch wide of the posts.
It’s been a tough season for Chorley, who lie ninth out of 11 teams in Division Two of the North Lancs League.
On Saturday Chorley scored after five minutes when winger Dave Dawson went over on the right-hand side following good work by Stuart Harris and captain Steve Pearson.
Renton added the extra two points with the conversion to make it 7-0, before slotting a penalty over to make it 9-0.
Old Bedians, who are sixth in the division, grabbed a try but another penalty from Renton made it 11-5 at the break.
In the second half, Rob Melling went over for a converted try after good work in the ruck.
Renton added another penalty and at 20-5 it looked like game over.
Old Bedians had other ideas and with the help of some marginal decisions they pulled it back to 20-20.
l Chorley 1sts travel to North Manchester on Saturday for their final game of the season.
