Frickley 2 Chorley 2

IT was a week to forget for Garry Flitcroft’s side after being kicked out of the cup and also missing out on the chance of moving second at Westfield Lane.

The Magpies had a bad day at the office, and Flitcroft will have to get his players back motivated for the Lancashire Cup semi-final against Wigan Robin Park tonight (Wednesday).

Andy Teague managed to force a save from veteran keeper Steve Dickinson, from a Tom Ince corner, midway through the half.

Dickinson was called on again towards the end of the half, making a save from a cross, but there was nothing he could do to stop Ben Turner from turning another Ince cross into his own goal after 41 minutes.

In the second period, a rejuvenated Frickley side were determined to rise up from their lowly 18th spot in the table.

Chorley will be frustrated, as Frickley looked the livelier team after the break, and recorded their first victory since November.

Stuart Ludlam headed in an equaliser from a cross on 75 minutes, then, five minutes later, midfielder Jamie Vermiglio pushed over Ollie Ryan in the box, and James Ashmore made no mistake from the spot.

Skipper Teague tried to get Chorley back into the game, but his header went wide.
