An excellent all round performance from Andy Taylor secured Hoghton a vital victory in the Palace Shield Premier Division.
Winning the toss and batting, Hoghton started poorly losing Darren Eccles early for six.
Geeth Malinda batted excellently alongside Taylor to make 42.
Taylor rotated the strike and scored 63 before falling to Kal Umerji.
Aaran Eccles, Neil Eccles and James Ainscough all made it into double figures and a vital late 31 from captain Hurst took Hoghton to 215-7 off 45 overs.
Hoghton struggled in the opening overs and the Great Ecc openers both got into the 40s.
But Rob Bolton and Matt Parkinson claimed two wickets each and supported Taylor who claimed 3-31.
The win still leaves Hoghton in the relegation zone but with plenty of hope going into the final stages of the season.
White Coppice’s poor form continued as they lost by four wickets to Penwortham.
Batting first Coppice were bowled out for 139, Antony Moore (42) and an unbeaten 35 from Stephen Parkinson the top scorers.
Coppice made a good go of it taking six wickets but Penworth kept their nerve to secure the points.
Steve Cooke took 3-37.
Withnell Fold slumped to a heavy 112 defeat against leaders Vernon Carus in Division One.
Fold bowled first and struggled as Vernon’s posted 241-6 off 45 overs.
The Fold reply never really got going as they were bowled out for 129, skipper Mick Atkinson top scoring with 30.
Mawdesley just fell short as they lost to Whittingham and Goosnargh by two runs.
Mawdesley bowled first and Neil O’Malley took 6-71 as Whittingham posted 165.
Matt Watkinson and Martin Williams both hit 48 but the Mawdesley fell two runs short.
Eccleston won again destroying Wrea Green in Division Two.
Eccleston posted 170, Chris Speak hitting 42.
Pete Cummings bowled excellently taking 5-11 with Daniel Flanagan and Tom Wilkinson both claiming two wickets each as Wrea Green were bowled out for 48.
